Memorial Tribute for Frank Gargione

Dear Frank, it was a pleasure to work with you for so many years making real our dream of fostering Ka systems and applications with a dedicated conference. Your enthusiasm, personality and human sympathy were making our Conference an unpredictable success along all these years.
Frank you will remain forever in our heart, Ciao Frank !!!

Frank, dearest friend and "founding father" of satellite Ka-band communications, you were, you are, a wonderful person. We will try to honor you pursuing your dreams. Frank, we will never forget you. And now that you know everything about Ka-band propagation, please keep inspiring us.

Frank was a special person, in addition to his deep knowledge of satellites communications, he was plenty of ideas and always ready and capable to motivate colleagues and take with enthusiasm new challenges. He was for all of us an example to follow. We will remember him as a speaker and a mentor, but we will also remember him singing at the conference, plenty of happiness, and this image will remain impressed in our hearts

…New York, New York! You can still hear Frank singing his favorite song at all the Ka-Band Conference banquet dinners! We will always remember Frank as that guy who could make anybody feel welcome meeting you with that big smile and warm hand. Frank was hard working, committed, and persistent, and one who always looked beyond the obstacles to get something done. He will be sorely missed.

Frank Gargione was a colleague and mentor to so many and his passionate guidance, penchant for sharing and mutuality, and his commitment to building real and meaningful relationships within the industry was legendary and will be missed. I trust that others might join me in recommending that an appropriate KaConf remembrance of Frank be made, perhaps the establishment of an annual memorial award that recognizes an outstanding industry colleague who reflected many of his great qualities.

Frank was a special person and will be missed both professionally and personally. He always radiated a vibe of calmness with passion, and forged meaningful relationships. He was a wonderful advocate of NASA, technology development and applications, and continued to do so until his time with us was complete.

Frank was my mentor, colleague and dear friend for more than 20 years. Our industry has truly lost one of its greatest and the Ka and Broadband Communications Conference has lost its key founder. He will long be remembered for his passionate dedication, determination and drive to make our industry and Joint Conference outstanding successes.

My thoughts and prayers are with Lucy and the remainder of his family.

I met Frank several times and I was in contact with him during the organization of the last Ka band conferences. He was a special person; always kind, available, friendly and enthusiast of his work. It was very easy to relate to him because, in spite of his great experience and know how, he was modest and never arrogant. I remember him in Vietri proudly speaking about his original homeland. It was really sad to hear about his departure. I will miss him.

Frank was a close friend and a very special person. I felt a great sorrow at the sudden loss ,will remain forever in my heart his smile. Goodbye Frank

This is a shock to me. I was thinking just few days ago of meeting him at Cleveland, again, smiling as he always used to do at the Ka Band Conferences, as last year in Bologna. Good By Frank, a successful and good Italian in the big America!

I am deeply saddened by the news of Frank passing. I am honored and blessed to have known him so my thoughts and prayers are with his family.
