Space based Communications, Applications and Technologies in the 5G Era:
Moving forward to the Third Decade of the 21st Century

Niagara Falls, Canada, October 15 - 18, 2018

The 2018 Colloquium entitled Satellite for 5G will be held prior to the Joint Conference on Monday, October 15, 2018

The Colloquium is organized by the Co-Chairs:

Antonio Franchi, Telecommunications Future Projects, ESA More...
Jean-Luc Agostini, Satellite Systems, MDA More...

Colloquium Synopsis

Key industry players will debate the role of satellites in 5G and present upcoming system architectures.

With billions of devices connected to the Internet by 2020 all requiring constant connectivity, the wireless industry has a big job to do. 5G is a revolution in telecommunications; challenging space technologies, defining new sets of services, and fashioning network of networks. Satellite will complement 5G terrestrial systems and offer important societal and economic benefits.

At the same time, the space communication ecosystem is becoming the center of attention of new investors. Many Satcom constellation projects, both GEO and non-GEO, from both incumbent operators and new players are being proposed and implemented to respond to the global demand for data. The colloquium will look across a broad range of satellite systems and their role in delivering integrated 5G services and address how satellite and terrestrial 5G systems will interoperate.

Panelists from the Satellite and Cellular industry, GEO and non-GEO Satcom operators, prime manufacturers and suppliers, will be invited to discuss their approaches to deliver integrated 5G services, their architectures and their visions, in interactive sessions.
